Academic Computer Centre Cyfronet AGH is a leading unit established for the operation and expansion of High Performance Computing (HPC) and the Municipal Computer Network (MAN) in Krakow. Cyfronet is an administratively and financially separate unit of the AGH University in Cracow. The Center is one of the largest networking and supercomputing centers in Poland. The Center's staff currently includes about 180 employees, including about 80 people involved in R&D work. Cyfronet's staff also includes qualified personnel necessary to ensure the operability of the network and supercomputing infrastructure 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Cyfronet hosts Poland’s fastest supercomputers, present on the Top500 list, since 2010 (Zeus, Prometheus, Athena, Helios). Cyfronet also leads NCC Poland in EuroCC programme and was selected as one of the hosting entities for EuroHPC JU midrange systems.

 

In 2007 Cyfronet established the PLGrid Consortium, which gathers all Polish HPC centers and forms the national computing infrastructure, with over 12000 users, several HPC systems, including LUMI supercomputer (Polish share) and access to external quantum computers.
