EPCC
EPCC was established in 1990 as a focus for the University of Edinburgh’s work in high-performance computing during the previous decade. Their mission statement "To accelerate the effective exploitation of novel computing throughout industry, academia and commerce" is achieved through a broad range of activities.
EPCC is home to some of Europe's fastest and most powerful supercomputers with 75 staff committed to the solution of real-world problems. EPCC provides genuine technology leadership in Europe and has a wealth of expertise in the latest technologies.
EPCC hosts and manages world-leading HPC systems such as the Cray XE6 and the IBM BlueGene/Q as well as providing an HPC On-Demand Computing facility for its industry clients. EPCC is also one of the leading providers of HPC training in Europe, offering MSc and PhD opportunities in addition to tailored training to meet the needs of industry. EPCC leads the way in HPC research and its current interests include Cloud computing and exascale.
