This third webinar dedicated to the 5th edition of the SRA, our Strategic Research Agenda for European HPC will cover two topics - two research domains from SRA5 :
As usual, each topic will be presented by one of the main authors involved in the preparation of the relevant SRA5 section, and other co-authors will be present in the Q&A session to exchange with the audience. For each topic, the speaker will give and overview of the research trends and state-of-the art, and detail the challenges identified by our experts for the coming years.
Dr Paul Carpenter is a Senior Researcher at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) since 2011. His research interests include performance-portable parallel programming models, system software and energy-efficient architectures.
Dr Utz-Uwe Haus is Head of Hewlett Packard Enterprise EMEA Research Lab. He studied Mathematics and Computer Science at TU Berlin. After obtaining a Doctorate in at the University of Magdeburg he worked on nonstandard applications of Mathematical Optimization in Chemical Engineering, Material Science and Systems Biology. He has worked as a Senior Researcher at the Department of Mathematics at ETH Zürich, and was co-founder of the Cray European Research Lab in Basel, developing the Mathematical Optimization and Operations Research group, working on data-dependency driven workflow optimization on future HPC architectures. He is currently working on secure HPC workflows, integration of HPC with Gaia-X, and large scale digital twins.
Prof. Dr Dirk Pleiter is a professor of HPC at KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and director of the PDC Center for High-Performance Computing. He holds a PhD in theoretical physics. Before joining KTH he worked at the Juelich Supercomputing Centre. His research focuses on computer architectures, performance modelling and research infrastructures. He has been involved in a leading role in various HPC hardware and software co-design projects as well as in different projects for building (federated) HPC-based e-infrastructures.
Dr Gabriel Antoniu is a Senior Research Scientist at Inria, Rennes. He is currently the Head of the KerData research team, which focuses on scalable data storage, I/O, processing and in situ visualization on extreme-scale systems (HPC, cloud, edge infrastructures), supporting the convergence of HPC, Big Data analytics and AI.
Guy Lonsdale is the CEO of Scapos AG, a company launched by the Fraunhofer-Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing SCAI. He is also the treasurer of ETP4HPC.
