The 3 pillars of the European HPC Ecosystem

The European HPC ecosystem is based on three pillars: technology provision (represented by ETP4HPC), the pan-European research infrastructure (represented by PRACE – Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe) and application expertise (represented by the Centres of Excellence in Computing Application). The balanced evolution of these three elements ensures the development of a globally competitive HPC ecosystem that benefits the European economy and citizens. The EXDCI project (European Extreme Data and Computing Initiative) coordinates the implementation of the European HPC strategy.

The three pillars interact in order to form a coherent HPC environment in which the needs of all users are met.

The technology provision pillar and the applications pillar participate in a contractual Public-Private Partnership with the EC.
