The 37th ORAP Forum took place in Paris this week with more than 100 participants.

This Forum devoted its first half day to an overview of European HPC landscape and initiatives, hence the three pillars which structure these projects, were represented at the forum, respectively: Technology development; Infrastructures; and, Applications.

Jean-François Lavignon, ETP4HPC chairman, gave a talk in which he represented the landscape of HPC technology research in Europe – first pillar. He explained the current efforts being undertaken by the European Exascale Projects under the Horizon 2020 programme, whilst discussing ETP4HPC technology roadmap, Strategic Research Agenda, which lays out milestones for the development of HPC technology and Big Data.

A quick overview of PRACE and PRACE 2 was then given, followed by an example of a Centre of Excellence (EoCoE http://www.eocoe.eu/ exemplifying the Application pillar) and eventually a presentation of EXDCI Coordination and Support Action, spanning the whole HPC ecosystem.
